Macclesfield Green Roof

The Problem

Green roof waterproofing for an architect designed 7 star eco-house in Macclesfield, a small rural enclave about an hour out of Melbourne.

The Solution

Macclesfield is beautiful part of the world, only an hour from Melbourne but nestled in an untouched native bush setting. This was the ideal location for an ambitious eco-build house, with a huge expanse of roof area to be water-proofed for the addition of tons of soil to form a green roof. Mr Waterproofing worked with the architects, engineers and home owners in the planning stages to scope and specify the job, and then travelled to site to install and complete the job. A heat applied COSMOFIN fully welded PVC membrane was used to seal and waterproof the roof which had a substrate of thick construction grade marine ply first installed to the rooftop. Once the joins of the membrane were heat sealed the the soil and grow environment for the grass and plants was added to complete the roof.

The Result

Project completed on time and on budget, as quoted, no variations. The plants and grasses are now seeded and establishing themselves in the roof eco-system, the roof doesn’t leak, the owners couldn’t be happier with their beautiful eco-friendly green roof. Smiles all round.

Albert Park Rooftop

The Problem

With a beautiful breeze and a view down the avenue a roof top in Albert Park is a beautiful place to be. Except when it leaks into the babies room below! How to water proof a historic roof insulated with local seaweed, that was then lined with standard pine floor boards and then later in life covered with asbestos sheeting and tiled with porous terracotta tiles.

How to get this up all with a new born sleeping below! First thing is call in a contractor that specializes in getting things done that others find difficult ,dirty dangerous or just to hard

The Solution

Build a false roof, make it water tight ,access through street side scaffold and then get it done. Once demolition done water proof with Cosmofin a fully welded PVC. This took care of the issue of all the different moving surface and made the entire structure completely water tight.

The Result

No water ingress on this large exposed roof, no moving babies, no leaks 12 months later and a happy client.

Underground Residential Garage

The Problem

Leaking basement in surburban Melbourne house. The basement had been leaking since extensive rebuild and renovations were undertaken to the existing house. The basement garage was built below ground level and water was coming through the concrete and block work causing severe dampness, calcification, smell and mould. Structural damage from corrosion of steel work and concrete was inevitable. Unable to re-excavate and retank exterior, the basement had to be tanked internally on positive facing wall (i.e. internal). Other contractors had inspected the site and walked away, unable to confidently offer a solution. Insurance companies were at a loss as to how to resolve the situation, faced with the prospect of a complete rebuild.

The Solution

Asset Rehab Services were able to propose a guaranteed internal tanking system with no excavation required using hi-tech waterproof tanking mortars from Europe in tandem with above ground water diversion. The job was quoted with a six week turnaround. Above ground works included landscaping, drainage, retaining walls and water diversion to assist and prevent ongoing damage.

The Result

WetSuitTM water proofing fixed. Melbourne endured torrential rainstorms in Nov and Dec soon after with no resultant leaks whatsoever. The customer had spent two years trying to remedy the problem and was delighted and amazed at the final result. All works were completed with minimum disruption and without requiring relocation of family (and dog).

Brunswick Balcony Waterproof

The Problem

Badly leaking balcony that had caused extensive damage to the balcony timber sub frame, floor and balcony doors. The problem was caused by sub standard initial construction that was not properly waterproofed to begin with. The owners were frustrated by previous failed attempts to fix the problem.

The Solution

Mr Waterproofing worked through the issues to come up with a remediation plan. The job was quoted, budget agreed, then work undertaken. The timber frame was replaced, the floor was prepared and sealed with a COSMOFIN waterproof PVC membrane across the entire area, and then over the top a new Merbau decking was installed.

The Result

COSMOFIN fully welded PVC was used to give an everlasting (25 year warranty) result that won’t leak. Project completed on time and on budget, as quoted, no variations. The balcony doesn’t leak, the owners couldn’t be happier with their beautiful new waterproof balcony deck!

Building Foundation Waterproofing

The Problem

Large scale building required below ground foundations and basement walls waterproofing and sealing prior to earthworks back fill. The structure required water proofing and sealing to exterior retaining and basement walls to prevent water ingress and seepage.

The Solution

As Mr Waterproofing were included in the project specification from inception, works were done adjacent to and in tandem with construction. The masonry walls were first treated with a waterproof render to seal the porous brickwork, then applied with WetSuit® seam seal and WetSuit® parts 1 & 2. The walls were subsequently back filled and construction continued.

The Result

Seamless application of WetSuit® provided a complete monolithic cover including seams and points of penetration such as pipework and services, ensuring protection against the surrounding soil water table. As well as protecting from water ingress this ensured protection against concrete cancer and masonry degradation. This in turn contributes to the stability of the footings and building long term lifespan.
